Waterville Valley is undoubtedly one of the best ski areas in which to ski with uncrowded, long beginner slopes served by easy to use lifts and an uncomplicated piste map.  However it is not just for beginners, being home to current and past US Olympians, and some challenging runs to boot.  Add into the mix superb accommodation nearby and the unique, friendly, safe and children’s haven that is Waterville town square and this place could be perfect for your next school ski trip.

New Hampshire Combo Ski…

Waterville Valley is ideally located right near Loon and Cannon, two other premier New Hampshire resorts.  Why not combine your trip to Waterville Valley with one of New Hampshire’s other excellent ski resorts to make the very most of your USA ski trip? The nearby resorts of Cannon and Loon each offer their own unique set of challenges and rewards to keep your students happy.  As an added bonus, there is no change in cost to your group!

The Skiing…

Waterville Valley is centred on one mountain with runs of all colours that go from the top to the bottom of the mountain back to the central Base Lodge area.  The ‘Top Dog’ ski hire is conveniently located directly next to the central Base Lodge with the ski school right in front making for a slick process.  From this great central area you have access to all the main lifts, including the high speed White Peaks Express which whisks you up to the Schwendi Hutte near the top of the mountain from where you can ski down choosing one of dozens of runs back to Base Lodge.  Just metres from Base Lodge is another superb beginners ski area served by the ‘Lower Meadows’ lift.  This fantastic area is excellent for beginners largely due to the positioning away from the main slopes ensuring beginners can progress quickly without worrying about other skiers.  Progression from there offers some great gentle cruisers including the serene ‘Stillness’ slope through the trees, in addition to some more intermediate and advanced slopes higher up the mountain.  The more advanced skiers will be able to test their skills on the same slopes that have honed the skills of many US Olympians, in addition to some world-class freestyle skiing areas.

You also have the option of spending the whole week at Waterville Valley or spending time at one of the other New Hampshire resorts of Loon or Cannon, just 20 minutes away.

The Snowfall…

Waterville Valley offers the highest altitude skiing in New Hampshire, and whilst not high in comparison to European resorts its geographical location in New Hampshire ensures over 4 metres of snow falls each season.  Add to this superb snow making that covers 100% of slopes and you get superb conditions all season and snow continuing long after skiers have finished for the season.

Off the Slopes…

Off the slopes is one of the real beauties of Waterville Valley for school ski trips.  Waterville Valley Town Square located less than five minutes from the ski slopes and directly next to the Snowy Owl Inn Hotel.  It is a fantastic and unique attraction, and school groups will be able to explore a traffic free square which has dozens of quant, tax-free shops, cafes and more.  In addition there is a large indoor ice rink next to the square, ensuring there is plenty for groups to do when not skiing in a safe, self-enclosed environment.  A short walk from the Town Square you will find a purpose built snow tubing centre.  In addition, evening outings to shopping retail outlets to take advantage of tax-free shopping in New Hampshire can be arranged in addition to bowling, cinema with dinner evenings, quiz nights, ice hockey matches, Funspot arcade and bowling centre and sleigh rides.  If you choose Waterville Valley, you are choosing fantastic après ski in addition to the excellent skiing in New Hampshire.
