Loon is legendary on the East Coast, having been recently voted in the top 10 US ski resorts, and is New Hampshire’s largest resort.  It does not disappoint in terms of scale, facilities or slopes. In addition, off the slopes there is a huge range of exciting activities and a range of great accommodation options close by.

New Hampshire Combo Ski…

Loon is ideally located in between Waterville Valley and Cannon, two other premier New Hampshire resorts.  Why not combine your trip to Loon with one of New Hampshire’s other excellent ski resorts to make the very most of your USA ski trip? The nearby resorts of Waterville Valley and Cannon each offer their own unique set of challenges and rewards to keep your students happy.  As an added bonus, there is no change in cost to your group for skiing more than one resort!  Enquire for more information.

The Skiing…

The resort covers three peaks, North Peak, Loon Peak and South Peak.  North Peak and Loon Peak form the main ski area where school ski groups will spend their time.  A quad chairlift links these peaks to South Peak where you will find some superb intermediate and advanced runs such as the famous ‘Ripsaw’ double black diamond.  Back on Loon Peak, skiing departs outside ‘Governor Adams Lodge’, the location of the ski rental shop and the ski school.  From here your students can access a fantastic beginner area complete with magic carpet which offers great progression onto easy green runs.  The ‘Kancagamus Express Quad’ chairlift whisks skiers two-thirds of the way up Loon Peak to the fantastic ‘Grand Junction’ slope which is an excellent, long easy run.  For the more advanced in your group, the ‘Four Passenger Gondola’ on Loon peak offers an array of runs of all abilities at the top which gives the option of skiing back to the Governor Adams Lodge or skiing across to North Peak where some excellent slopes await the more accomplished skier.  Parts of the mountain is given allocation of ‘Family Zone’, meaning for your school groups they will ski in a safe environment.  At Loon, there really are slopes for everyone to enjoy and explore.

The Snowfall…

Loon is not the highest altitude, however natural geography ensures Loon boasts snowfall averaging over 4 metres each season.  In addition, Loon offers 99% snow-making coverage which ensures a long season from mid-November until after Easter.

Off the Slopes…

All accommodation offered by Ski Adaptable in New Hampshire offer swimming pools and plenty of space for your group for activities such as quiz nights, karaoke and discos.  Loon is located close to the town of Lincoln, with many Ski Adaptable accommodation options close by.  During the winter Lincoln builds its very own ‘Frozen’ styled ice castle each season and is well worth a visit.  In addition Lincoln offers excellent tax-free shopping, including a traditional sweet shop that is popular with school ski trip groups.  Loon Adventure Centre offers snow tubing, a zipline and guided snowshoe tours to keep you busy after a days skiing.  Nearby Waterville Valley Town Square provides a fantastic venue for school groups to explore, with a traffic-free square which has dozens of quant, tax-free shops, an ice rink and more.  Evening outings to shopping retail outlets to take advantage of tax-free shopping in New Hampshire can be arranged in addition to bowling, cinema with dinner evenings, quiz nights, ice hockey matches, Funspot arcade and bowling centre and sleigh rides.
