Lesyin is a pretty Swiss mountain village that boasts a breath taking position overlooking the beautiful Alpes Vaudoise region of Switzerland below.  The village is relatively compact, is welcoming and atop the Berneuse ski station the views are some of the best you will find anywhere in the world with remarkable 360 degree views of the Alps.  Add in some top-quality skiing and it is clear why Leysin is emerging as a top school ski trip resort in Switzerland.

The Skiing…

Leysin is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers, with over 100km of groomed slopes easily accessible from the village centre.  Many runs can easily be found by accessing the main Berneuse ski station, where atop you will find the mountain opening up in front of you.  There is an excellent beginner piste which runs just below the 360 degree restaurant.  Further blue and red runs run down the mountain sides, most of which are open and offer unbelievable views of the Alps.  Many runs take you right down to village level.  Skiing, or taking lifts further across the mountain to Les Fers offer further runs in less wooded areas.  The lift pass also includes access to slopes in Les Mosses, which is a short drive down the valley, offering even more opportunities for skiing.  The runs in Les Mosses tend to be shorter than Leysin, however some superb beginner areas await in addition to freestyle parks and equally majestic mountain views.

The Snowfall…

Although much of the skiing takes place below 2000m, Leysin has a microclimate that ensures good snow cover on slopes throughout the season, from December until April most years.  In addition, snow makers cover most slopes giving additional backup.

Off the Slopes…

Leysin is home to five colleges and international schools, so whilst the village is relatively compact it is perfect for school ski trips as it is set up for school children of all ages.  There is a huge range of activities available in the village itself, including a superb tobogganing park which claims to be the first toboggan park in the world which allows snow tubing in bobsled like runs.  In addition, there is an ice rink, swimming, sledge runs and more.  In addition, accommodation offered by Ski Adaptable offer even more onsite activities which alone could keep your group busy all week.
